Beach Lupa – Budapest\’s Answer to the Lack of a Seaside
Just 20 minutes walk from Budakalász stop by suburban railway H5 (HÉV), you can find a slice of the Mediterranean with white sand and palm trees. Tickets are from 560 to 8000 HuF, depending on the services you wish to use, (with all sorts of extras up to private beach). There are sports tickets for water and beach sports, wakeboard and diving centre, beach fitness, beach ball courts, and rental. The Sunset tickets are for the romantically inclined, available after 5pm. In addition to bars, there are ideal open office workplaces, if you have the urge to bring along your laptop even to the beach.
Party on the Green Bridge (Szabadság-hÃd) on 4 Weekends
Following last year\’s spontaneous events on the green bridge that\’s been used as a giant bench by local and international youth around and after sunset, this summer there are 4 weekends with mini-festivals featuring concerts and jugglers and some daytime tug-of-war. One of the best things to do in Budapest in summer will be definitely the special weekends on the 17th-18th and 24th-25th June, 5th-6th and 12th-13th August.
Rooftop Cinema: Open Air Cinema with Budapest Skyline in the Background
On top of an old department store that has been refurbished to give way to nightlife and now houses several clubs and restaurants, there is a groovy movie theatre with thematic screenings. All movies are shown in their original language, with subtitles. Mondays are dedicated to cult films, Tuesdays are Hungarian movies (with English subtitles), premier films are on Wednesdays and Fridays, while from the end of June, contemporary and classic French movies are screened on Thursdays. After the movie, just move one or two storeys down, and you bump into a cool party.
FINA World Water Sports Championship in Budapest
Between 14th-30th July, Budapest (and also lakeside resort, Balatonfüred) will be in a sort of turmoil: the rounds of FINA World Aquatics Championship will take place in 5 different spots of the city (along with the Open Water Swimming events near Lake Balaton) Tickets are already on sale, if you are into water sports don\’t miss the opportunity!
