Erected by the company that also installed La Grande Roue in Paris, according to the plans the Budapest Eye awaits visitors all year long. In addition, an other ferris wheel is placed on the Hajógyári Island during the world-famous Sziget festival.
The giant wheel is located on the Erzsébet Square, in the very heart of Budapest. You may spot it from far away, since it is higher than the surrounding buildings. With its 65-meter height the Budapest Eye is the largest ferris wheel in Europe. From the top you can easily locate almost all the famous sights of Budapest, such as the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hungarian Parliament or the UNESCO World Heritage Site Andrássy Avenue.
So if you are up to some spectacular view of the Hungarian capital and not afraid of height, you should definitely take a ride on this giant machine in its partially open cabins.
It is open every day from 10.00 am to midnight. A ride lasts about 8-10 minutes, the wheel takes three turns. Tickets can be purchased on site: it costs 2400 HUF (about 8 euros) for adults and it costs 1500 HUF (about 5 euros) for children between the ages 2 and 14.
In high season you may wait in long queues, but the panoramic view will definitely make it up.
